    Welcome to Silverlight 2

Hope that all of you have been focusing on Silverlight since the intial release. Now that Silverlight 2 has RTM'd we are looking forward to hearing from you how you have been working with Silverlight all these days.

Are you able to work only with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 or do you feel that Expression blend 2 SP1 is also essential to creating colourful graphics as well as adding themes to the pages.

Looking forward to see favourable responses to this post.

    Re: Welcome to Silverlight 2

Yes Rajesh, I was able to create a cool Silverlight application with Silverlight2 RTM with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and Expression Blend SP1. Initially i have got a problem designing the application with Silverlight because i have installed both Expression Blend 2.5 June Preview and it had given me the com filecount error. But to resolve it i have unistalled the June 2008 Preview of Expression Blend and Reinstalled the Microsoft Silverlight 2 Tools for visual Studio and i could create cool Demo silverlight application. Thanks for your post on introduction to Silverlight 2. Hoping for your Sequel article on the introduction to access the SQL Server Database through SOAP in Silverlight. ;)

    Regards,

    Barathan

To take it to the next level, Windows Live Platform has now brought Silverlight live Streaming where you can upload your WMV videos and it would stream via a Silverlight Client.

A Windows LiveID gets 10 Giga Bytes storage.

    Re: Welcome to Silverlight 2

I have written an article how to get started with Expression blend 2 and VS 2008 to create a silverlight application. This tutorial explains the following.

    1. using multiple pages and navigating between them.

    2. designing the screen with expression blend 2 without the hassles of writing out xaml code.

    3. switching between expression blend 2 and vs 2008.

    3. using a webservice (part 2 will come later)

Please refer to the article here  http://www.developer.com/net/csharp/article.php/3779251

    regards,
