June 14th, 2008 was one of the memorable days for Chennai MS Community (CITUG & CNUG) - The Heroes Community Launch of Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008.
There was more than what one could ask for at this technology launch which had presentations on all 3 products (Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008) by eminent speakers followed by expert interactions and loads of prizes that were given. It was truly a rocking event.
The launch was kick started with a quiz that had questions on the local communities and the winners were appreciated with goodies like pen drives, mp3 players etc….
This launch event had a great impact with the Chennai MS Community members, that, we have so far received lot of positive feedbacks and requisitions for more sessions on various tracks. The audiences were an excellent mix of Developers, IT Professionals and Students which made the event more lively and interactive. Also many have voiced their desire to volunteer for few areas of community effort and it truly was an occasion that made it possible to connect with people from various avenues.
Mr.Jadeja declared the event open with a simple and sweet keynote,which was then followed by a session on Windows Server 2008 by Mr.Shajahan. He presented the session in style with demos and samples which was well appreciated by everyone. Following a short tea break was the next session on Visual Studio 2008 by Mr. Sunder. I (M.Ravickumar) had the privilege of conducting the final session that was on SQL Server 2008 which was a quick run through as we were running out of time. There were loads of requests pouring in from the developer community for more sessions on VS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 with demos (deep dives) and we have promised to fulfill the same.
We had about 110 participants and the enthusiasm was unmatched. All the sessions were well received by the participants that were marked by great interaction at the end of the same.
At the end of the session Mr.Jadeja, Microsoft Corporation elaborated on the UG opportunities and Microsoft’s involvement. He also appreciated the effort taken by a small team for the Launch event. It was a perfect ending to the perfect story,a lucky draw was conducted and goodies including VS 2008, Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 Heroes kit (Full version), Windows Vista Ultimate were given . Let aside the 1GB pen drives, MP3 player, etc that they got.
We sincerely thank Culminis for their immense support and Microsoft India for being a back bone for the community’s event . I would also like to thank our event management company Hues Media for their flawless arrangements that attributed to the success of the event .And above all definitely the interest of Chennai ITians and .Netians (and beyond), for making this launch a memorable event in the history of Chennai MS Community.
